World War Three ~~

Brandon followed her. "What's wrong?" He asked, but as soon as he finished his sentence he knew he shouldn't have said anything.

"N-nothing. It's nothing," Lucy shot up, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Lucy," Brandon said, softly stroking her hair, "Tell me." Lucy curled up against Brandon. He felt his shirt get wet from tears, but he didn't care. "You can tell me anything."

Lucy finally broke down, sobbing. "I-I hate it. I hate this stupid war, and the stupid army, and the stupid people fighting in it. I hate Jayde's dad, and April makes it sound like I chose to go in there and fluck men in their forties. I-I'm only fourteen and I can't even call myself a virgin! I can't even say I only did it once. I love you, and I want her to stop teasing me. I kissed you back, and I liked it. A lot. God dammit why can't she just shut up! I WISH SHE NEVER FOUND US!" She wept, pressing her face into Brandon's chest. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry."

April had been right around the corner, getting up to get a drink of water. She had been stopped when she heard Lucy crying, and had heard every single word she said. April was not the one to cry, but she broke into silent tears and ran back to her room.

Brandon, unknowing about April, continued to stroke Lucy's hair. "Shh, it'll be okay, it'll be okay," he murmured, trying to comfort her. "I love you too. April didn't mean it, I know she didn't. Shhh, it's okay, it's not your fault."

"She did mean it!" Lucy almost yelled, "You saw the way she rolled her eyes and walked out of the room! She get's kidnapped for, like, a month or two, joins the war, gets kicked out, and the next thing you know she's a total jerk!" She cried, almost waking up Chris and Jayde, or so they thought. Chris was a heavy sleeper, Jayde not so much. Brandon had to fight himself to hold in a laugh. Though, he continued to comfort her. Behind them, Lucy felt another hand, much warmer, touch her back. When she turned her head she saw a little girl, with eyes just as teary as hers, join her. Jayde leaned up again Lucy and whispered, "It's going to be okay," just loud enough for only Lucy to hear.

Lucy looked at Jayde, and saw her tiny hand upon her back. Impulsively, she leaned up a bit, and wrapped Jayde in a strong embrace, and continued to weep. Brandon smiled slightly, seeing the little girl and Lucy bond. Maybe she isn't mad at me anymore, he thought. Maybe she realized I didn't try to steal her mom.

Brandon started to comfort Jayde too, running his hand through her hair. She smiled, feeling his presence on her small head, thinking about how her life used to be, when her father didn't hit her. When her father didn't yell at her. When her father hugged her every night, just like this. Jayde actually felt happy for once.

(I had a whole fricken post written, and then it didn't send. I was so pissed. XD)
Lucy sat up, out of tears, and gently leaned her head on Brandon's chest. "Thank you," she murmured. "I know this must have been hard on you too. And I'm a total mess. But you're so calm, so together. And you're being really kind right now Brandon. So thank you," she breathed, not daring to move her head away. She stroked Jayde's hair a couple of times, and smiled slightly.
"You're welcome," Brandon whispered, and he gently leaned down to kiss Lucy's forehead. It wasn't exactly a sign of passion, as much as it was a sign of love, or of comfort.

Jayde started crying. Not from depression, not from pain, but from happiness. She hadn't gotten love in any way, shape, or form since the war. It felt good to be held, to be kept close. Lucy smiled and hugged Jayde tighter as she realized she was crying tears of joy.

Brandon hugged the two girls, and released his arms from them. "It's getting late," he murmured. "Lucy, you two should get some sleep. I'll wake you up for the next watch, okay?"
"Okay," she nodded, tears still flowing from her eyes, and little girl on her lap. "Goodnight Brandon. I love you."

Jayde looked at her. Even though she didn't say anything, Lucy knew what she wanted. "I love you too, Jayde," Lucy giggled. Jayde smiled and cuddled up against Lucy, finally falling asleep. Peacefully. "I love you, Lucy and Jayde," Brandon whispered, plucking a kiss on each one's forehead.

Lucy was awoken to Brandon shaking her shoulders gently. "Time to get up," he murmured, trying not to wake the five-year old next to his girlfriend. "My watch is over."
"Already?" Lucy yawned, sitting up and kissing Brandon's cheek. "Alright. See you in the morning."

Jayde mumbled, making Brandon and Lucy freeze, watching her. Jayde yawned and turned to her side, still in a deep sleep. Lucy giggled and hugged Brandon. "Good night," she whispered to him.

"Night," he rubbed his eyes, and dragged his feet until he got into his room. I just hope when I wake up this isn't all a dream. Brandon thought, feeling his eyes grow heavier and heavier.

Brandon then fell in a deep sleep, too deep to hear Jayde's cry. Lucy was rubbing her back and comforting Jayde, trying to keep her quiet. "Jayde what's wrong? Did you have a bad dream?" Lucy asked. Jayde nodded. Lucy then noticed that whenever she was next to Jayde, Jayde was always peaceful and happy. With out Lucy by her side, Jayde was always scared, worried, depressed, and struggling.
