Society Sucks

"It's working!" Mac accidentally said out loud, thinking about her eating disorder. She fiddled with her hair, crouching down to her locker. Mac hated her locker, because it was on the bottom and she was pretty tall. Mac grabbed her stuff, closed the locker, and stood up. She had accidentally bumped into someone, who look popular but wasn't at the table. "Oh I'm so sorry," The girl said, helping Mac pick up her stuff.

"Oh, no you're fine! That was totally my fault," Mac blushed, taking her books back from the girl. "But thank you! I'm Mac," she smiled.
"Marlene. Nice to meet you," the girl said, holding her hand out, and Mac shook it.

Mac smiled an awkward fake smile and headed off to class. "That hurt," Marlene mumbled, rubbing her hand across her bruise.

Mac was sitting down in her classroom, tapping her pencil back and forth. Well THAT was awkward, the poor girl, she sighed out loud, and the teacher shot a sharp glance at her. Mac immediately sank in her chair, and opened her textbook.

In this class, she didn't know anybody but Kyleigh. Kyleigh had moaned a couple times and complained to the teacher, "Why aren't any of my friends in this class?" When she caught Mac looking at her, Kyleigh shot Mac an evil glare. Mac suddenly turned away, putting her face into a textbook.

"Well this is just great," Mac murmured, annoyed. "Miss Mackenzie," the teacher turned to her. "Do you have something you'd like to share with the class?"
"No ma'am," she sighed.
"Then I suppose you'd have no trouble solving this equation?"

"What?" Mac said suddenly, her face getting red. Kyleigh laughed an evil laugh, motioning to the board. Mac then added, "Oh, um... X equals 14?" The teacher nodded and said, "Good job," then turned away, facing the board. Mac was still blushing, and Kyleigh was still smirking.

That was close, Mac thought, feeling incredibly lucky she got the equation that quickly. Why is Kyleigh making that face at me? Did I do something wrong? I know there isn't food in my teeth...

One boring class later, the bell rung. Mac gathered up her stuff all nice and beat and headed for the door. Kyleigh chased after her. "Hey Mackenzie," she teased, "Close one, wasn't it? See ya later, DUMB ONE!" Kyleigh smirked once again and shoved Mac's things out of her hands and watched them sprawl on the floor. She fixed her ponytail and walked away like nothing happened. "Dumb one," Max repeated quietly. She had been called many names before (Slow, fat, ugly, worthless, bitch, etc.), but dumb one was a first.

Is Kyleigh really so stupid, that's the best nickname she could think of? Mac thought, still a bit pissed. It's not like she could get the equation any quicker. What's her problem? Am I really that stupid? Mac bent down to pick up her books, and figure out where her next class would be taking place.

Her next class was with Xzavier and Kyleigh. "Great," she murmured to quietly for anyone to hear. She took her seat next to Xzavier, and that's when the trouble started. Kyleigh got out of her seat and stood in front of where Mac was sitting. "Hey Mackenzie," she said rudely, "You're in my seat. Get out." Mac sat there and stared at Kyleigh, then said, "But you were sitting over there..." Kyleigh added sharply, "I changed my mind. Move it or lose it," When Mac did move, Kyleigh grabbed her chair and tilted it so Mac would fall out. She then put it back in place and sat down. Mac got off the floor, took her stuff, and moved to the back of the room. "Ky, that wasn't really necessary," Xzavier commented.

"She needed to learn a lesson," Kyleigh laughed, and Xzavier shot Mac a glance of apology, mouthing the word "sorry."
Mac sighed, biting back tears. Why is she being such a blitch? 

(Why blitch?)
Mac looked away, putting her fist up to her mouth, sliding down. Xzavier saw this and immediately turned to Kyleigh. "What 'lesson'? You're being a bitch, you were the first one here and you chose your spot." Kyleigh looked surprised then laughed.

"Are you kidding Xzavier?" Kyleigh laughed. "Look at her. I know you're being sweet and inviting her along to the game tonight, but you shouldn't have to try so hard. It's obvious she doesn't fit in!"
"You're being kind of rude Kyleigh," Xzavier grunted.
"So? You've never had a problem with my attitude before!"

"She's different," he mumbled, "Mac's not some ordinary wall flower." Xzavier looked down trying to avoid eye contact with Kyleigh. After a couple seconds of her not responding, Xzavier looked up to see Kyleigh's mouth wide open. She squeaked. Then finally she said, "Excuse me?!" In one of those little bratty popular girl voice.

"Well she isn't. And I don't think you should be treating her like that Kyleigh. You're acting strange," Xzavier mumbled, not moving his gaze. "I think you should start thinking about what you say before you say it."

"Since when have I been acting strange?" She asked, not getting the point of the sentence. "If anything," she continued before Xzavier even had a chance to talk, "you're the one who's been acting strange!"

Xzavier almost came up with a comeback, but the class bell rang, and the teacher walked in, glaring. "I hope you children are ready to learn today. I see we have a new student," he said, indicating Mac, making her more embarrassed than she already was.

"Yeah," she mumbled. The teacher walked near her. "Well don't be shy, introduce yourself!" He said, more cheerfully than he looked. "Mac," she said quietly, "Is in Mackenzie."

"Well Mackenzie, I hope you're prepared to learn in my class," the teacher smiled, and proceeded to move back towards his desk. (WHAT CLASS ARE THEY IN?)

(Let's make it... French)
"It's Mac," she corrected him, regretting telling him about the 'Kenzie' part of her name. She hated it, even though it was a pretty name.

"Bonjour Mac, savez-vous bien le français?" the teacher asked, looking at her.
"Je connais un peu." Mac replied, suddenly relieved. The teacher seemed nice enough to her.

(I understood nothing)
Mac smiled a bit. Xzavier looked back and smiled too. He mouthed, "You have a really pretty smile!" Mac understood, and blushed a bit.

(Hello Mac, do you speak french?, A little bit)
"I like your eyes," she mouthed back, and turned towards the teacher.

Xzavier laughed a bit and turned, facing the teacher. "Yuck," Kyleigh mouthed to the both of them with a disgusted look on her face. "Oh give it up, kyleigh. You're just jealous." Xzavier rolled his eyes.
